New Costumes and Big Changes

We don’t like wearing dirty hats either.
This year has marked a big change in costuming. The elves at the corporate office and the North Pole seamstress have been working around the clock trying to come up with some different costuming solutions to improve current concerns.

Here are some concerns from 2018 that we tried to address during the off-season:

• It is not fun to share elf hats.
• The elf coats can be painfully hot to wear in certain rooms.
• The cost of our brown shirts and leggings was too expensive for the cast.
• Costumes need to be washed more often.
• It is not fun to share costumes, especially when they smell bad.

Your opinions have been heard!

• Our goal this year is that everyone would have an assigned hat.
• We are also attempting to assign everyone their own costumes.
• We have a scheduled costume fitting/assignment date at the start of season.
• Cast members are no longer wearing long-sleeved brown t-shirts.
• Cast members are no longer required to buy their own leggings.
• We have created 50 new costumes intended to be a cooler alternative.
• We will be testing these new costumes on the floor to see what works.
• The new costumes are easier to wash and will be washed more frequently.

We haven’t fixed everything, our shoes still need improving, and there will be bugs and difficulties with assigning costumes and hats. We also know the new costume concepts might change slightly after we see how they work, but we want you to know that WE CARE and are TRYING to create costumes that are fun for our guests to see, and more comfortable for our cast members to wear.

On a side note, the new costumes have been tested out on guest focus groups and through surveys. Both old and new guests have responded very positively to the new looks. We have taken their feedback to make adjustments and keep enhancing our elf costumes.
